"I'm 30 y/o and have been lifting for about 15 years now. I started working out just to gain some muscle and for something to do. I never had much direction or help so I neglected my back, legs and diet for years. I made many of the beginner mistakes. I had a hard time gaining weight and plateaued for years.
Eventually I made some changes to my diet and I put on about 25 lbs in two years by eating everything I could (so obviously not all of it was muscle). I also began doing consistent leg and back work and improved my routines altogether.
After another year or so I hit another point of stagnation. I was spending 4 days/6 or so hours a week at the gym. I was fried. I took about 5 months to train martial arts and only lifted once, maybe twice a week.
During my 4th month out I was talking to a trainer named John Heart that I knew from the gym. John told me about a weight lifting approach called HIT and told me about Mike Mentzer/HD...I was also delighted to find out that John is considered an authority on the HIT system.
To cut to the chase, I've been training with John for 8 months now. It's been BRUTAL but I love it! John put me on a clean diet, upping my cals in order to induce maximum muscle growth. Just 6 weeks with John yielded drastic results. Now 8 months into it the results are undeniable. I have some legs for the first time in my life, with thicker more muscular thighs and better shape and cut to my calves. My back has blown up and my arms have grown enough to warrant comments on a number of occasions. And even when I increased my cals I dropped 7 lbs. This helped bring out some abs, as well.
John is a thinking man's trainer, designing effective programs based on years of experience rather than following the crowds and fads of the day. I'm sold on HIT/HD and love lifting again. Great results, more food and 1/3 of the time in the gym. I look forward to every session with John and the fantastic gains that come with it."

"My name is Dan Bennett. I started training with John Heart just before my 42nd birthday. Although I had weight trained many times in the past I had never experienced the rapid and efficient progress that was accomplished with Mr. Heart. From the very beginning I was growing and getting stronger. After a couple of weeks of initiatory workouts, we started in earnest with serious resistance training. John's exacting supervision and regiment was nothing short of flawless. Perfect form was emphasized along with extreme effort to maximize the results of the sessions. Both the positive and negative parts of every lift were timed. Sessions consisted of two or three body parts exercised to failure sometimes with supersets to really blast a muscle group.After four or five days of recovery we worked another part of the body. Once the whole body was worked in this way, we repeated the cycle but with more weight added. The progress was obvious. I could do more leg extensions with more weight. I could perform heavier bench presses. I could dead lift much more with better form etc. Also my ability to do more exercises with less rest increased rapidly. There was never a training session that was just passing time. Everything counted. I could see the results in the mirror. Muscles were reshaping and fat loss was obvious...The whole workout lasted about twelve minutes (on average)....
We regularly measured my progress on each lift. My ability to do fifteen to twenty perfect squats with 275 pounds was nothing I could do when I was much younger. I got to where I was dead lifting 375 pounds six times. My arms got tighter bigger and stronger and my legs got much stronger and defined. I was easily leg pressing nearly 1000 pounds 20 times after blasting them with leg extensions. I am a true believer in this kind of intense, brief and infrequent workout style. It is efficient and exciting. I learned invaluable information working out with John Heart. I'd recommend him to anyone."
